Introduction: Central venous catheters (CVCs) are essential devices in hospital care; however, their invasive nature carries the risk of catheter-related infections and bacteremia, which can progress to bacterial endocarditis. Objective: To propose a standardized clinical protocol for the management of CVCs and the prevention of bacterial endocarditis. Materials and methods: This is a descriptive study based on a framework for the theoretical modeling of the Nursing Care Process, incorporating contemporary standards for infusion therapy and infection prevention practices. Results: A four-phase protocol was developed, featuring defined responsibilities, surveillance variables, alert criteria, and evaluation indicators. Conclusions: The proposed protocol provides a verifiable structure for the care of central venous catheters, integrates digital monitoring to support traceability, and requires validation by experts as well as a pilot test prior to institutional implementation.
