Introducción: El estrés académico afecta a estudiantes de posgrado, y la actividad física podría constituir un factor protector. Objetivo: Identificar la asociación entre la actividad física y los niveles de estrés en estudiantes de doctorado en educación de la Universidad Nacional del Altiplano de Puno, Perú. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo transversal con 220 doctorandos. Se aplicó el Cuestionario Internacional de Actividad Física en su versión corta y la escala de Depresión, Ansiedad y Estrés de 21 ítems. El análisis empleó chi-cuadrado con corrección de Bonferroni en SPSS v.27. Resultados: Asociación con significación estadística (χ²=13,506; gl=6; p<0,05). El 59.1 % de los doctorandos con actividad física alta no presentó estrés y solo el 4.5 % tuvo estrés severo; por contraste, el 27.3 % con actividad física baja reportó estrés severo. Conclusiones: Existe asociación inversa entre actividad física y estrés, lo que confirma el papel protector del ejercicio en esta población doctoral.

Introduction: Academic stress affects graduate students, and physical activity may be a protective factor. Objective: To identify the association between physical activity and stress levels in doctoral students in education at the National University of the Altiplano in Puno, Peru. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted with 220 doctoral students. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) short version and the 21-item Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale were administered. The analysis used chi-square with Bonferroni correction in SPSS v.27. Results: A statistically significant association was found (χ²=13.506; df=6; p<0.05). 59.1% of doctoral students with high physical activity did not present with stress, and only 4.5% had severe stress; in contrast, 27.3% with low physical activity reported severe stress. Conclusions: An inverse association exists between physical activity and stress, confirming the protective role of exercise in this doctoral population.
