The objective of this study was to characterize the scientific output on hospital waste and health risks in Latin America between 2000 and 2025. A bibliometric analysis was conducted on the Scopus database, using indicators of volume, collaboration, authorship, institutional affiliations, and thematic clusters. The results indicate steady growth since 2013, led by Brazil, but with regional disparities and a concentration of authors. The structural typology is dominated by technical-operational approaches, with little integration of waste management, biosafety, and public health effects. Scientific collaboration networks are weak and highly fragmented, preventing an integrated regional view of the problem. It is concluded that there is growing scientific output, but it remains fragmented, with a strong concentration in Brazil and low regional integration. Research remains focused on operational aspects, without consolidating interdisciplinary approaches or aligning with sustainable public policies.
